no date, circa 1830. 8vo, contemporary full calf, gilt blocked spine, red morocco title panel in gilt, splitting to front joint at head and foot, wear to corners with some loss, marbled endpapers, contemporary annotations to preliminary blancs in ancient hands dated 1834, 1835 (names of previous owners, presumably schoolboys from Rheims). Good. pp 692; 6 maps, 5 folding (Europe in 1821, France 1830 with flags of different countries, Africa 1830, North America 1830, South America 1830, Europe 1830) folding map-monde (hemispheres), 6 prints of coins. There is toning/spotting throughout. French text. This appears to be a later reprint of the 1821 edition of this work which appeared under many guises between 1747 and 1851. [Vosgien - after the Vosges mountains region, was the pen-name of a priest from the town of Vaucouleurs in Lorraine, Jean-Baptiste Ladvocat (1709-1765)].
